VANCOUVER, B.C. – February 1, 2018 – Associa British Columbia hosted an educational seminar to provide council members and non-Associa strata members unparalleled training opportunities and educational resources to better serve the communities they represent.
The event hosted more than 35 attendees who listened to speaker Sat Harwood, partner at Lesperance Mendes Lawyers, discuss human rights and strata governance. The presentation provided an overview of the human rights code and an outline of different claims that have been brought against strata corporations and managers, including claims involving disabilities, smoking and pets. He also provided tips for drafting and administering bylaws, responding to requests for alterations and dealing with competing owner interests.
“Associa British Columbia’s management staff is comprised of the best-trained and most equipped professionals in the industry,” stated Berit Hansen, Associa British Columbia president. “We will continue to use our industry expertise and resources to provide these opportunities to our council members and make certain that they are prepared for any situation.
