Many members of our leadership team have established the community management industry from the very beginning. We leverage our collective experience, support, resources, and passion to deliver exceptional service for the satisfaction of every customer and the good of every community we serve.
To say the beginning of Associa was 43 years ago when John Carona signed his first client in Dallas would be true, but really, the story goes back much further.
At age 12, John obtained his first job mowing lawns for his neighbors. When this work quickly turned into a weekly engagement for over 20 happy homeowners, the calling was clear; this was the spark that ignited John’s lifelong passion for property management.
And the rest is history.
John Carona founded a boutique property management firm providing limited property management services to apartments and condominiums in Dallas.
Utilizing IBM System 36 technology, Carona and his team became among the first in the industry to embrace computer technology.
Established an in-house service department to handle the construction and maintenance needs of community common areas, growing the local fleet to over 100 trucks.
Opened the first branch office just east of downtown Fort Worth.
Acquired Associa Hill Country, Associa’s first company outside of North Texas.
Acquired Associa Arizona, Associa’s first company outside of Texas.
Acquired Community Management Corporation in Chantilly, Virginia, a recognized national leader in industry operations and governance.
In 2005 and 2006, acquired 34 community management firms in 14 states across the U.S.
Founded a data processing firm to effectively deliver web-based resale documents efficiently to buyers, realtors, lenders, and title companies. Established Associa University, an online training program that empowers Associa community managers and employees to become the best educated experts in the industry. Expanded to Hawaii with Associa Hawaii.
Founded Associa Cares, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with the mission of assisting people throughout the world in crises such as natural or man-made disasters.
Founded the industry’s first nationwide Political Action Committee to serve as the leading participant in our industry's ongoing evolution.
Became an international business by opening Associa Mexico in Los Cabos.
Acquired Professional Community Management, which manages one of the largest Active Adult communities on the West Coast.
Expanded into Canada with acquisition of three companies in the provinces of British Columbia and Alberta. Became a national sponsor for National Night Out (NNO). Founded Associa Supports Kids (ASK) to support the health, safety, and well-being of children through education and health and wellness promotion.
Founded Associa Green, an environmental initiative to help families live healthier, more sustainable lives. Opened the industry's first client shared service center to support enterprise-wide accounting operations.
Launched the Associa Green Award to encourage green living in communities.
John Carona won EY Entrepreneur of the Year™ in the southwest region. Named Top Property Management Influencer on Twitter.
Hosted the first Annual Leadership Summit. Won the Dallas Regional Chamber Blueprint Award in the Workforce Growth category.
Implemented UP for Leaders, a revolutionary training program for future leaders. Surpassed 200 PCAM® designations—the most in the industry.

Expanded into New York City and Utah.

Announced The Marianna Brady, PhD. Scholarship Program for children and grandchildren of any Associa employee pursuing post-secondary education. Founded Associa Financial Solutions, Inc. to assist association boards in managing the HOA loan process. Partnered with Patriot PAWS Service Dogs for a service dogs awareness initiative. Expanded into Wisconsin.

Associa Chicagoland stepped up during its first year of management to assist residents following a gas line explosion. They worked with a neighboring rental community to provide housing until the development could be put back together.
