Community Association Services of Indiana, an Associa company, recently had staff members adopt a needy family from The Lord’s Pantry at Anna’s House (www.lordspantry.org).
While this was the first year that CASI has adopted a family from this particular organization, they have adopted a family at Christmas for the last three years. Several staff members picked items from the family’s wish and/or needs list, and others donated money to buy other items from the same lists.
A total of $150 was collected from employees and the CASI “Elves” used an additional $250 from the Adopt-A-Family fund to purchase all that was needed for the family. Clothing, shoes for the children, toiletries, cleaning supplies, toys and goodies were purchased. A warm coat for each of the four family members, plus hats, gloves, scarves, underwear and socks were also purchased.
A $50 gift card for Kroger was donated by a staff member so that the family could buy Christmas dinner. Additionally, $60 in Applebee’s gift cards were donated so they could enjoy the treat of a family meal out together.
“We are very grateful to have been able to help brighten this family’s Christmas,” said Valerie Atwell, Assistant Community Manager and Chair of the CASI Community Outreach Committee. “Our staff looks forward to this event each year and as a company, we always strive to give back to the community we serve in any way we can.”
The Lord's Pantry at Anna's House strives to enhance the lives of those they serve by empowering families through educational programs, nutritional assistance and financial support. Through the generosity of many, they continue to seek out and implement additional programs which will help families to become self-sufficient.
