Two Communities Managed by Community Management Concepts of Jacksonville

Finalists Applauded for “Safety & Security” and “Community Relations & Communications”

Jacksonville, FL March 18, 2010 - Associa is proud to announce that two communities managed by Community Management Concepts (CMC) of Jacksonville are named as finalists in the 2010 Florida Communities of Excellence Awards for proactively implementing inventive programs that help neighbors and their communities.

“Watching people band together to ensure their community is safe, and seeing families working and playing together is heartwarming,” said Sherrill Schafer, President of CMC Jacksonville. “It’s why we work in the community management business, and I am proud of our team and the neighborhoods that are finalists.”

Forest Ridge Village Condominium in Fernandina Beach – “Safety & Security”
Successfully implemented campaign that removed criminal activity in community:

• Created Neighborhood Watch program, working closely with local police
• Amended bylaws to include mandatory background checks, owner key submission to association and current vehicle license plates
• Maintained Website and email campaigns to promote continued communication
• Established social events to encourage networking

Edgewater at Sunbeam Condominium in Jacksonville – “Community Relations and Communications”

• Installed memorial benches to recognize residents who have volunteered numerous hours
• Mounted community information holders on all mailboxes.
• Implemented numerous communication vehicles: Website, bulletin boards, “The Edgewater Crier” newsletter, emails and social events 
• Created “The Dirty Dozen” volunteer group to lead maintenance projects, resulting in cost savings

The Florida Communities of Excellence Awards is the only statewide, independently judged program recognizing community associations for best practices and accomplishments who set the standard with programs such as disaster preparedness, environmental protection, water & energy conservation, community relations, financial innovation or safety & security.  The awards are sponsored by the Florida Community Association Journal and Becker & Poliakoff.
